We have seen copious examples of individuals who could not reach their goals in life and enjoy all-around fulfillment because of certain character disorders they did not correct. Apart from the examples, we examined from the Bible, there are other examples outside the Bible. Literary writers like William Shakespeare and Thomas Hardy also revealed in their works how negative character destroys lives. Shakespeare’s characters like Macbeth and Julius Caesar readily come to mind.
Thomas Hardy presents a similar case of tragic fall as a result of a negative character through the protagonist called Michael Henchard, in his prose work titled “The Mayor of Casterbridge.” The simple lesson in all these cases is that any character deficit you do not deliberately confront and remove from your life will deal a terrible blow to your destiny one day. All these things are written for your learning. How can you develop a godly character?
