As a believer who wants to live a mountain-top life, you need to be adequately armed with the knowledge of who the strong man is, his activities and how to overcome him. All these are our focus today. There are several lessons we need to learn from Matthew 12:29 (our memory verse).

First, there is a power known as the strongman. Second, the strong man has a house. Third, he has goods inside the house. Fourth, these goods don’t belong to him, otherwise, there would be no need to take them from him. Fifth, you have to bind him before you can do anything. Sixth, the strongman is the supervising power over stubborn situations.

In Zechariah 11:9, the Bible says, “Then said I, I will not feed you: that that dieth, let it die; and that that is to be cut off, let it be cut off; and let the rest eat every one the ﬂesh of another.” It is disheartening that many people are feeding their enemies fat. I believe that today is a day of great revelation and victory for you.

One man was attending a Gospel church but still had problems. Then he left and went to herbalists, pressers of sand, etc. He wasted a lot of money but there was no improvement. One day, his sister said she would take him to the most powerful herbalist in town and if the problem did not get solved, he should go and take poison and die.

When they got to the herbalist, without much ado, he told them to go back to the church. The man wondered and said he left the church to seek power. The herbalist told him that there was sufﬁcient power in his church to set him free, and the truth is that the power behind his case was stronger than he the herbalist.

He then quoted a verse in the Bible which says: “…when thou art strong, thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck (Genesis 27:40). The man heard that scripture for the ﬁrst time in his life and was puzzled. Then he remembered that the devil also quoted scriptures to Jesus. So, the herbalist too could do same. The power behind the problem of the man was stubborn and strong. That is a strong man.

Sometimes, this power drives people to despair and they begin to think that God is no longer interested in their case. That is why you should take the prayers against the strong man seriously and spend ample time on them. These are powers that will not let go easily.

Many years ago, I was going to see a man who was blind. I felt very sorry for him and at the same time angry with the devil. I took his case serious and asked him to throw away all his charms and amulets. I was going there every evening. The man, who could not see me come in until I talked, soon began to notice the buttons on my shirt. One day, I got to his house and the situation had become worse.

I asked him what happened and he told me to pray on. Then, I went before the Lord to enquire about his case. I asked the Lord to reveal what was wrong and the Lord told me to go there at 12 midnight instead of 6pm. When I got there that night, I met a woman on the bed and I asked who she was. She told me that she was his wife and I told her that it was a lie because I knew the man’s wife.

FINALLY,

The man told the woman to go out of the room if I asked her to. The secret sin of the man was the strong man behind his problem. This strong man was throwing away all our efforts and was being fed by the man himself. If there is a strong man in your life, you have to deal with him.
