Victory Over Anxiety And Fear
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
– 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)
Fear is a spirit that paralyses. It makes a person believe that what they are seeing or experiencing is bigger than what it really is, but which in reality is not. When we look at things from God’s perspective, instead of what the devil wants us to see, then we will see that what we have feared is not as big as it seems because God is with us.
An example is Peter’s case when he joined Jesus to walk on water:

Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. – Matthew 14:25-32 (NKJV)
Peter, initially, had his focus on Jesus but when he turned his focus to the wind, he began to sink. Then he called out to Jesus and He rescued him. This is a lesson for us. Our doubts will make us sink, but our focus on God, who has given us victory over every negative circumstance, will keep us afloat.
As Christians, we should never be paralysed by fear or anxiety, no matter what we are going through because we have a God who is greater than any challenge we may face. When we call on Him, He is ever ready to come to our rescue.
Beloved, God had given you a Spirit of power, of love and of a sound mind; He has given you all you need to dominate in this life. So, go out and enjoy your victory over anxiety and fear.
