Love is expected to be one of the strongest factors in the marriage relationship. In fact, couples profess and believe in their love for one another before they tie the nuptial cord at the wedding altar. But the sad stories we hear in many homes soon after marriage and the alarming rates of divorce and separations even among Christians, make us to wonder what happened to true love.

Our passage today defines the power of true love. It is strong, unquenchable, indestructible, boundless and priceless. Also, It is not cold and lifeless. It burns in practical expression. Like a burning flame, it consumes anything that stands on its way. Love is unstoppable. It cannot be hidden or curtailed by anything neither can it be bought at any price.

That is the kind of love that Jesus calls us to have for one another. The depraved heart is not capable of loving this much. There is need for regeneration and sanctification of the heart for the love of God to be truly shed abroad in the heart before we can have and display this highest degree of love.
