Wisdom Daily Devotional Wednesday 31  2022

Topic: BOLDNESS FO THE GOSPEL

Text: (Acts 4:29-31) And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, 4:30 By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus. 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

 

WISDOM DAILY DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE 

One of the temptations that is confronting Christianity today, is the temptation of fear. Many are afraid of speaking the word the way it is, instead they want to speak what is generally accepted even though it’s not the truth.
The apostles in the early Church were faced with oppositions who wanted them to stop preaching about Jesus Christ, who was crucified, buried and resurrected. Instead of chickening out they did something that is very remarkable. They assembled themselves together and prayed. In the content of the prayer, they told God about the threats, but because they were determined to preach the truth, they asked God to fill them with boldness.
However, God’s response to that prayer was the release of the Holy Spirit on them. When that happened they were all filled with boldness. The word translated boldness is the Greek word parrhēsia, which means, freedom in speaking, unreservedness in speech openly, frankly, i.e without concealment, without ambiguity or circumlocution
without the use of figures and comparisons, free and fearless confidence, cheerful courage, boldness, assurance
the deportment by which one becomes conspicuous or secures publicity.
If you are faced with threats or fear, just pray in tongues until your heart is flooded with boldness.
  1. *Prayer* Father, fill your people with boldness so that they can speak the gospel without fear or intimidation, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
